Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon for a bargain fee of just £22.4 million this summer.

According to Sport, as relayed by The Sun, Real Madrid are ready to part ways with Sergio Reguilon. They are willing to offload the Chelsea target despite a successful loan spell at Sevilla this past season and have put out a fairly reasonable £22.4 million price-tag.

It could serve as a massive boost for the Blues, who are desperate to sign a new left-back as part of Frank Lampard’s overhaul this summer. The Blues have already been linked with a high profile individuals like Ben Chilwell, Nicolas Tagliafico and Alex Telles so far in the ongoing transfer window.

Chilwell is believed to be topping Lampard’s wishlist as he is an England international and has a lot of experience of playing in the Premier League. However, Leicester City’s outrageous £80 million asking fee for the left-back is proving to be an obstacle.

As a result, the west London outfit may finally have to shift their attention towards other alternatives. And Reguilon’s price-tag might appear as tempting for Lampard, who has other areas to fortify in what is expected to be a busy transfer window.

The Blues have already secured the services of high profile stars like Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner while they are also nearing the capture of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. The German international could cost a fortune, which, in turn, could cripple the club’s financial ability in the market.

Reguilon, in that regard, is a cost-effective alternative to the hugely expensive Chilwell. Although the Spaniard is yet to prove himself in the Premier League, he was most notably voted as La Liga’s best left-back in the past season. His contributions have also been critical in helping Sevilla win the UEFA Europa League.

Stemming from the Real Madrid academy, Reguilon is a well-rounded full-back, who can combine his offensive prowess with responsibility and composure that allows him to do his defensive chores. He is also athletic enough to tune in well with Lampard’s fluid system at Stamford Bridge.

At the age of 23, the Spaniard has time on his side as well and should be an ideal alternative, if not an upgrade over the duo of Emerson and Marcos Alonso. However, with PSG also interested, it will be a challenge for Chelsea to get their hands of Reguilon this summer.

Good for him… I believe he is much better than Chilwell, who is overrated and expensive.
