Juan Foyth is reportedly on the radar of newly-promoted Leeds United, who are set to make a £15 million offer for the Tottenham defender.

If an exclusive report by The Sun is to be believed, Leeds United are interested in signing Juan Foyth from Tottenham in the summer transfer window. To that end, the newly-promoted Premier League club are lining up a £15 million bid for the Argentine international.

Foyth joined Tottenham in the summer of 2017, following a bright start to his senior club career at Estudiantes. Since joining the Premier League heavyweights, though, it has been slow progress for the 22-year-old, who has never really managed to carve out a regular place for himself in the first-team setup at Tottenham.

Till date, Foyth has featured just 32 times for Spurs and managed to rake in a mere 262 minutes in the season gone by. In fact, the player has gone further down the pecking order since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, with Japhet Tanganga usurping him. Now, it looks like Foyth’s time at Tottenham is nearing its end, with Leeds United hoping to snap him up.

The Whites are finally back in the Premier League after a 16-year wait, winning the Championship title this season to seal their promotion. However, if they are to sustain their top-flight status, Leeds will need to make some shrewd signings, seeing as the step up from the second-tier to the Premier League is quite significant.

As a result, Leeds have been linked with some big names already, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, Sergio Romero and others. Defence, though, also needs to be a priority for the club as Gaetano Berardi is already on the wrong side of 30, leaving captain Liam Cooper as the only other recognised centre-back at Marcelo Bielsa’s disposal.

While Leeds are eager to secure the services of Ben White on a permanent deal, they might need another central defensive addition to achieve more stability in the position. Furthermore, a deal for White is not set in stone, with Brighton & Hove Albion reluctant to sell to a club that can become a potential relegation struggler, like them.

In addition, White has also been linked with Liverpool, who view him as a replacement for Dejan Lovren. As a result, the interest in Foyth makes sense, with the report suggesting that Bielsa rates the youngster quite highly. In fact, Leeds are readying a £15 million bid for the Tottenham man as well.

Foyth has also been linked with Boca Juniors, but he recently dismissed the notion of returning to Argentina, insisting that he will continue his career in Europe while also hinting that his Tottenham stint is nearly up. Foyth has also suggested that he would like to work with Bielsa, saying, “Bielsa is one of the best coaches in the world and it would be nice to be coached by him.”

What now remains to be seen is if a £15 million offer is enough for Tottenham to part ways with Foyth. As things stand, though, it looks like the Argentinean international does not have much of a future at Tottenham and it will be interesting to see if he ends up joining Leeds this summer.
