Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Torino captain Andrea Belotti, as they line up a potential summer swoop for the Italian.

According to a report from Tuttosport, as relayed by Football Italia, Manchester United are monitoring Torino centre-forward Andrea Belotti as they eye a summer move for the 26-year-old.

Belotti joined Torino in the summer of 2015 and has since grown into one of the most consistent and prolific goalscorers in Serie A during his time at the club. Till date, the Torino captain has featured 187 times for the club, bagging 92 goals and assisting 19 more.

The 2019/20 campaign has been an impressive one for Belotti, as he has plundered 22 goals in 39 matches across all competitions. A regular for the Italian national team as well, he has turned out 27 times for the Azzurri, scoring nine times in the process.

Belotti’s exploits leading the line for Torino haven’t gone unnoticed, with Manchester United keeping an eye on the 26-year-old, as they size up a transfer for him. The Red Devils have been in rampant form of late, going on an 19-game unbeaten streak across all competitions before it was brought to a halt on Sunday against Chelsea.

The attacking contingent of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood have been firing on all cylinders, with support from Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen on adding another striker to his ranks, something which he alluded to recently.

It does make sense, considering the fact that Odion Ighalo is only on loan and will be at the club only till January next year, while Marcus Rashford has largely been used on the left flank by Solskjaer. Thus, Belotti would be a viable option for the Red Devils to look at.

However, the 20-time English champions will have to face competition from Inter Milan, who are also believed to be keen on the 26-year-old Torino marksman.

The report also states that Belotti has a release clause worth €100 million for foreign clubs, but his willingness to test himself at a higher level could lead to Torino selling him for a lesser amount. However, that value will have to be higher than the €40 million that Fiorentina bid for him in January earlier this year.

Belotti still has two years left on his current contract with Torino. With Manchester United also lining up a big money move for Jadon Sancho, while also plotting a swoop for Jack Grealish, it remains to be seen if they will be able to afford to splash the cash for Belotti as well.
