Manchester United are reportedly one of four clubs pursuing RCD Mallorca youngster Luka Romero, who is also chased by Barcelona and Juventus.

According to a Stretty News exclusive report, Manchester United are serious about their interest in RCD Mallorca youngster Luka Romero. The Mexican youth ace, who has been hailed as the Mexican Messi in reports, is also being chased by Juventus, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The report states that Manchester United are perhaps in the lead, with the Red Devils officials having already been in contact with Romero’s agents and family in order to sign the 15-year-old. If Manchester United were able to agree a deal for the Mexican youngster, he would still have to spend another season at Mallorca before being allowed to complete his move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have ramped up their youth recruitment a lot in the recent past. But, their change in approach has yielded better results than before, with several players lined up to be promoted to the first-team and be useful for the squad, which is ultimately the goal of any youth academy.

We have already seen Brandon Williams carve a space as a regular in the first-team setup. Others like James Garner, Dylan Levitt, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have all been in and around the first-team while the likes of Hannibal Mejbri, Dillon Hoogewerf are earmarked to follow in their footsteps.

But, their pursuit of Luka Romero is more than just another youth product signing. For one, Romero is hailed as the Mexican Messi by tabloids. However, it is the fact that the 15-year-old is reported to be close to breaking into the Mallorca first-team setup, which is rare or even unheard of in La Liga.

Rightly, Barcelona have been reported as a party interested in Romero. Lionel Messi is already 32 and eventually going to move on or retire. The Catalans have been perennially on the lookout for an able successor with many La Masia talents rising and ultimately falling to live up to the gigantic expectations. Romero could be another experiment in hopes of finding the next Messi.

Interestingly, even though Romero is Mexican by birth, the 15-year-old has already appeared for the Argentine Under-17 team and could be set to choose the same nation as Messi for international football.

In football, everyone is trying to find the next Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Many have come and perished. The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jadon Sancho provide hope for a new duo for the future generation. Romero has been hyped up and it will be interesting to see if it’s just another comparison or there is talent worth the hype.
