Liverpool have identified their main target in the shape of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore, who could cost £60 million.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are growing desperate to sign Adama Traore. The Wolverhampton Wanderers star has been identified as their prime target as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool have been the hit hard durinh this ongoing coronavirus crisis. It has inflicted massive financial damage, with no matchday revenues, while the club is not receiving money from the TV rights deal. In addition, the Reds were comfortably leading the table, meaning their title-winning campaign now hangs in the balance as the football authority discusses a potential resumption of the league.

Either way, the Merseyside giants could find difficulties in keeping hold of star players this summer. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, in particular, are destined to attract interest from big clubs across Europe. Even Mane himself has appeared seemingly keen on joining Real Madrid next season.

The departure of any of these two highly talented attackers could create a massive void in the offensive department. And that explains Liverpool’s pursuit of Adama, who has emerged as a rising star in the Premier League in the ongoing campaign.

A former member of La Masia youth academy in Barcelona, Adama has been involved in 11 goals in the league so far. His productivity and offensive partnership alongside Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota has helped Wolves once again push for a place in the UEFA Champions League, with the club trailing fourth-placed Chelsea by just five points.

From a tactical perspective, Adama would be an ideal signing for Liverpool. He is already considered as one of the best dribblers in Europe, which combined with his explosive pace makes him quite similar to someone like Mane. Much like the Senegalese international, Adama poses a lot of threat on the counter-attack that should tune in well with Klopp’s Gegenpressing style of play.

In addition, the Spaniard is known for his hard work as well as physical attributes, thus making him an ideal fit in the Premier League. At the same time, it gives all the more reason to Wolves to keep him at the club as long as possible.

Indeed, Adama has become a vital cog in Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactical setup at Molineux. Hence, his reported £60 million valuation seems rather low for a player of his calibre. And not to mention, Liverpool are likely to face stiff competition in pursuit of the winger. So, it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga takes shape in the coming months.
