Pedro is reportedly set to leave Chelsea as a free agent after reaching an impasse in contract talks, with AS Roma and Real Betis interested in the Spaniard.

According to a report by Goal, AS Roma and Real Betis are keeping a keen eye on developments surrounding Pedro. Talks between Chelsea and the Spaniard over a new contract have broken down, with the former Barcelona superstar expected to leave Chelsea as a free agent.

Pedro has spent nearly half-a-decade at Chelsea after joining the Premier League giants from boyhood club Barcelona in the summer of 2015. During this period, the 32-year-old has been a healthy contributor for the Blues, with his best spell coming under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri.

With Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in-charge, Pedro did start the season decently. However, he has slowly fallen down the pecking order, thanks to the emergence of Callum Hudson-Odoi coupled with the consistent performances of Willian and Christian Pulisic.

As a result, Pedro managed to start just 13 games across all competitions this season. And, with his Chelsea contract set to run out this summer, speculation around his future has been growing like wildfire. It now looks like Pedro could be set to leave Chelsea.

Contract talks between the West Londoners and the former Barcelona forward have broken down and a summer exit appears to be certain. With Pedro set to leave Chelsea, interest from several clubs has arisen, with AS Roma and Real Betis keen on signing the veteran star.

AS Roma have signed several attackers in recent years, including Carles Perez from Barcelona in the January transfer window. But, it looks like the Serie A outfit want more attacking additions and have set their sights on Pedro.

Real Betis, on the other hand, are hoping to offload Christian Tello among others, thereby creating space for the Chelsea star in their squad. As for the Blues, they will be wary that with Pedro’s contract expiring at the end of June, they could be put in a spot of bother if he chooses not to stay till the end of the season, which could go beyond June, as FIFA have advised.

With Willian, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal, also in a similar position, Chelsea will hope to convince the experienced duo to stay put till the season is over. For now, though, it looks like Pedro is set to leave Chelsea, with AS Roma and Real Betis keen on signing him.
