Celtic are set to demand over £25 million to part ways with Odsonne Edouard, who is being eyed by Arsenal as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng.

According to a report by Daily Express, Arsenal will need to shell out more than £25 million to sign Odsonne Edouard in the summer transfer window. The French striker is viewed as a potential replacement for club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who could leave the club this summer.

Edouard is in his third season with Celtic, having first joined the club from PSG in the summer of 2017. However, it is the ongoing campaign that has catapulted the Frenchman to the heights of stardom, having been highly productive before footballing activity was stopped due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

A scintillating tally of 27 goals and 19 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions to boot, Edouard has become the leading man for Celtic. His progress seems to have been duly noted as well, with Arsenal reportedly setting their sights on the player.

Arsenal find themselves in all sorts of trouble when it comes to the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker has been the single most influential player for the Gunners since joining from Borussia Dortmund over two years ago.

However, with just over one year left on his current contract, the Arsenal captain is reported to be highly likely to leave the club this summer. It was earlier suggested that the north Londoners had been keen to tie him down to a new deal.

But, recent reports have claimed that Arsenal have ceased all contract talks with the 30-year-old and are now ready to cash in on him this summer. This stance also means they need to zero in on a suitable replacement for Aubameyang, with Edouard being a viable target.

Just 22 years of age, Mikel Arteta can groom the youngster into his mould, making him potentially a long-term option in attack. And, Arsenal now know how much they will have to pay to secure the player’s services, with Celtic set to demand over £25 million for him.

The valuation is not too cheap and is unlikely to deter Arsenal a great deal, especially considering they are likely to recoup a higher sum for Aubameyang. What now remains to be seen is if they make a definitive step in pursuit of Edouard, by making a £25 million bid for him.
