Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has insisted he is happy at Leicester City amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

As reported by ESPN, Wilfred Ndidi has insisted that he is enjoying life at Leicester City and remains committed to the Foxes, even as Arsenal and Manchester United line up to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Ndidi has had a brilliant 2019-20 season. The 23-year-old has been an unsung hero for Brendan Rodgers’ side, who sit third in the Premier League table. He has featured 29 times across all competitions this season, producing a return of two goals and an assist.

Ndidi’s presence in the middle of the park allows the likes of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and others to go about their job and flourish in the final third of the pitch. His performances haven’t gotten unnoticed as Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in swooping for the Nigerian this summer.

Manchester United’s midfield department is finally starting to function effectively. However, with Nemanja Matic not getting any younger, the Red Devils will need to have a long-term successor for the Serbian in place sooner rather than later. This makes Ndidi a viable target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are set to lose Dani Ceballos, with his loan spell on the verge of expiry. Lucas Torreira has appeared unsettled and has been linked with a return to Italy, while Matteo Guendouzi has had some problems with new manager Mikel Arteta. Irrespective of that, the Gunners are in need of a top class defensive midfielder, and Ndidi fits the bill.

Ndidi, though, has claimed that he is not thinking about an exit from Leicester City and is very much happy at the King Power Stadium. Speaking to ESPN, he said:

“We are doing well and I am enjoying myself here. I still have a contract with Leicester. I am learning and trying to improve myself every day and I am doing okay here so no need to go anywhere.”

This ought to come as a blow for both Arsenal and Manchester United, who could have used a defensive midfielder of Ndidi’s age and quality within their ranks.

The 23-year-old Nigerian international still has four years left on his contract with Leicester. The Foxes are on the verge of sealing qualification for Champions League next season. Manchester United are also in contention, whereas Arsenal are far away from the picture. So, it is understandable that Ndidi would want to stay put at the King Power Stadium.

Arsenal have also been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, while Manchester United are looking at Aston Villa star John McGinn. It remains to be seen if the Premier League duo are able to land their intended targets in the summer transfer window.
