Manchester United have reportedly secured the signing of highly-rated teenage goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who will leave current club Sigma Olomouc in the summer.

Czech club Sigma Olomouc have announced on their official website that they have struck a deal with Premier League giants Manchester United for the sale of one of their young gems, Radek Vitek. The towering teenage goalkeeper will leave the club in the summer to join the ranks at Old Trafford as a scholar.

The statement clarifies that terms were agreed for the transfer way back in January and that the transfer has now been announced after all the formalities and paperwork have been dealt with properly. Vitek’s young age was one of the reasons the transfer could not be completed in January itself and warranted the completion of the legislative process with due consideration and approval from the governing body.

Ladislav Minar, the technical director at Sigma Olomouc, had only positive things to say about the deal and what it represents for the club and Radek Vitek.

“I’m glad to say that Sigma is able to send another of her offspring to a top European club. Leaving a player at such a low age is first and foremost a great prestige, which is a reward not only for the club but also for the player himself for his hard work. Secondly, it is also a financial aspect.”

“If Radek succeeded in the A-team of Manchester in the future or moved to another club, financial satisfaction would be interesting for Sigma. The interest shown by Manchester United was very serious. For a young player like Radek, this engagement is a huge opportunity and for us as a club honor. I believe that Radek’s transfer will be another motivation to work for our young footballers.”

This probably hints at clauses embedded in the deal for Vitek, which could see Sigma Olomous rake in a bit of cash if the 16-year-old manages to break into the senior team at Manchester United.

Manchester United have a plethora of young talented goalkeepers at their disposal. Joel Pereira has always been touted to have great potential and Dean Henderson has already proven himself worthy enough to be in contention for a call-up to the England National Team. Meanwhile, Matej Kovar is showing all the right signs of developing into a quality option.

Thus, the addition of Vitek will further strengthen the future for Manchester United in the goalkeeping area. The 16-year-old seemed visibly upbeat about the chance of representing the red half of Manchester in the future.

“It’s a real feeling, moving to Manchester United is the dream of many guys who start playing football. I am looking forward to it so much. I admit that I did not believe it when I learned about the club’s interest, but now it is definitely a reality.”
