Real Madrid are reportedly set to demand €60 million to part ways with Achraf Hakimi, who is being chased by Chelsea over a summer move.

According to a report by MARCA, as carried out by TransferMarketWeb, Chelsea will have to cough up €60 million to sign Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The Moroccan defender is currently on-loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Achraf Hakimi has progressed leaps and bounds since joining Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal. Now at the fag end of the aforementioned deal, Hakimi is a regular in the first-team setup at the Signal Iduna Park, having gone a long way in fulfilling the promise his immense potential warrants.

During his time with Dortmund, Hakimi has made 65 appearances, showcasing the tremendous versatility he possesses while chipping in with 10 goals and 17 assists. His future, however, is quite uncertain, as he gets set to return to Real Madrid at the end of the season. Amid all this, Chelsea have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old as well.

Chelsea’s right-back arsenal appears to be quite strong, especially in the wake of Reece James’s advent in the first-team squad this term. Apart from James, Frank Lampard also has captain Cesar Azpilicueta at his disposal for the right side of the defence. The left-back slot, though, looks quite weak, in comparison.

Emerson Palmieri was a regular under Maurizio Sarri, but has failed to impress Lampard much. The Chelsea boss has used Marcos Alonso every now and then, but even the Spaniard has not stamped his authority in the position, forcing the deployment of Azpilicueta as a left-back for large parts of the season so far.

Azpilicueta, though, does not look like he will be a long-term solution on the left side of the Chelsea defence, with the Blues actively scouring for left-backs. To that end, Hakimi is a viable target, who could form a dangerous full-back pairing with James for years to come, much like Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s tandem at Liverpool.

Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea have opened talks with Real Madrid over a possible deal in the summer. The latest update sheds light on Hakimi’s potential valuation, which appears to have increased twelvefold and could be in the region of €60 million.

TransferMarketWeb have iterated that as per MARCA, Real Madrid now value Hakimi at €60 million, having seen his stock skyrocket over the last two years. However, it is unclear if Los Blancos wish to integrate the 21-year-old in the first-team squad next season or if they look to sell him.

Dani Carvajal ought to have competition for his right-back slot and with Zinedine Zidane having little faith in Alvaro Odriozola, Hakimi could be an option. As for Chelsea, it remains to be seen if they are willing to cough up €60 million to sign the Moroccan international this summer.
