Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane is reportedly open to joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Goal, Manchester United will have a strong chance of snapping up Harry Kane in the summer transfer window. The Tottenham Hotspur captain favours a move to join the record 20-time English champions than stay put at the north London club for their rebuild phase.

Kane has seen his stock skyrocket considerably since breaking into the Tottenham first-team setup over half-a-decade ago. Since then, he has grown leaps and bounds to become one of the best strikers in world football while also being given the responsibility to be the England captain.

The 2019-20 season, though, has been quite a tumultuous one for Kane and Tottenham. While Spurs had to let go of Mauricio Pochettino and are struggling to adapt to the ways of former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, Kane has endured an injury-riddled campaign and is currently on the sidelines.

Tottenham’s struggles mean a summer of rebuild beckons. Kane, though, is not eager to stay put at the club during this period and is open to a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer, preferably to Manchester United.

Manchester United have not been linked with Kane too heavily in the recent past, but could do with a striker. While Anthony Martial is enjoying a fine season and Mason Greenwood is rated as a fine prospect, inconsistencies have plagued the Manchester United attack in the past.

The Red Devils did sign Odion Ighalo on loan for the remainder of the season, but there are no guarantees that the Nigerian striker’s move will be made permanent in the summer. With Martial being prone to inconsistency and Greenwood still some way off becoming a regular, investing in a striker makes sense for Manchester United.

To that end, Kane would be a viable target, who could be a long-term asset and a definitive upgrade on Martial for Manchester United. With the Tottenham superstar also in favour of a switch to Old Trafford, a move could perhaps, see the light of the day.

However, convincing Daniel Levy, who is infamous for dragging out negotiations, could be a huge stumbling block for Manchester United. With Kane’s current contract with Tottenham having over four years remaining, a significant transfer fee would be required to snap him up as well.

For Kane, it would be paying heed to an advice by Cesc Fabregas a couple of years ago, with the Spaniard urging the Englishman to quit Tottenham for a “big club”. But, it remains to be seen if a big move to Manchester United can be completed this summer.
