Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer Jack Grealish a £150,000-a-week deal to sign him from Aston Villa this summer.

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United are ready to hand Jack Grealish a bumper contract to swoop him away from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. The Premier League heavyweights are willing to offer the English playmaker a deal worth £150,000 per week.

Grealish has been regarded as one of the most promising young English midfielders for quite some time now, but has really stepped his game up in the last couple of seasons. The 24-year-old was pivotal in the 2018-19 Championship campaign, at the end of which Aston Villa regained promotion to the Premier League.

The player has only gone from strength to strength this season, playing a major role in Villa’s fight to retain their Premier League status come the end of the season. So far this term, Grealish has a solid return of 9 goals and 8 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. And, his exploits have caught the eye of Manchester United.

Manchester United solved some of their problems in midfield to a great extent in the January transfer window, signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese international has made an instant impact at Old Trafford, inspiring a fantastic unbeaten run over the last month or so.

However, with the future of Paul Pogba still hanging in the balance, it is likely that Manchester United could be forced into the market for a midfielder in the coming summer. Should Pogba indeed depart Old Trafford, Grealish would be a viable target for United to pursue.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though, has chosen to remain coy when posed with questions of Grealish’s links with the club. Nevertheless, it appears as if the Red Devils are serious with their interest in the 24-year-old and are set to prioritise a summer move for him.

In fact, The Sun goes as far as speculating that Manchester United are willing to triple Grealish’s current wages at Aston Villa in order to prise him away from Old Trafford. Grealish currently pockets around £50,000 per week at Villa Park after signing a five-year deal with the Midlands club.

Should he accept Manchester United’s terms, he would be set to earn a staggering £150,000-a-week. Meanwhile, Manchester City are also monitoring the 24-year-old playmaker, but it is believed that Manchester United are the player’s preference, if he decides to leave Aston Villa in the summer.

It now remains to be seen how things progress in Manchester United’s chase for Grealish. Pogba’s future might well determine the future of this saga as well, but for now, it looks like the Red Devils are ready to offer a £150,000-a-week contract to Grealish. And, it will be interesting to see if they can land him with these terms.
