Chelsea are reportedly set to rival Manchester United and other clubs in pursuit of Sandro Tonali, who is valued at €50 million by Brescia.
According to a report by TransferMarketWeb, Sandro Tonali is high in demand from top clubs across Europe. Chelsea are the latest club to have joined the race to sign the 19-year-old Italian midfielder, who is also the subject of interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Inter Milan and PSG.
Tonali has been widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe for quite some time now. Having broken into the Brescia first-team setup in the 2017-18 season, the teenage prodigy has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the first names on the team sheet at the Maria Rigamonti Stadium.
Tonali has started every game when fit and available, ever contributing to his team’s cause with one goal and an assist. However, with Brescia staring at the prospect of going back down to Serie B at the end of the season, it is likely that Tonali could be on his way out of the club. The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are, therefore, eyeing a possible summer move.
The interest from Chelsea comes as a bit of a surprise, even as they continue to be linked with many midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window. In the Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, Frank Lampard has three top class midfielders at his disposal, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek set to add to his options after returning from a long-term injury.
With Ross Barkley and Mason Mount also options to play in the middle of the park, the Chelsea boss does not really appear in need to bolster midfield. Having said that, Tonali would undoubtedly be a solid addition to the first-team squad. Manchester United, on the other hand, do seem to be in need of midfield reinforcements.
Nemanja Matic has enjoyed a renaissance this season, playing an influential role in the middle of the park for Manchester United. However, the former Chelsea midfielder is on the wrong side of 30 and will need to be replace in due course. As a result, it is hardly surprising to see Manchester United being one of the clubs that are pursuing Tonali.
Manchester United and Chelsea, though, face stiff competition in the race to sign the 19-year-old midfielder, with the likes of Manchester City, Juventus, Inter Milan and PSG also tailing him. With the chase for their prized possession heating up, Brescia are set to demand €50 million in exchange of the player.
It now remains to be seen how things progress in the months approaching the summer transfer window. For now, it looks like Chelsea are set to wage a transfer battle with Manchester United and more clubs in the race to sign Sandro Tonali from Brescia.
