Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Moroccan superstar Hakim Ziyech from Ajax in a £33.3 million deal.

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Dutch giants Ajax for the signing of Hakim Ziyech at the end of the season, the club has confirmed on their official website.

The 26-year-old Ziyech started out at the academy of Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen before joining Twente. Having made rapid strides during his time there, the Moroccan was snapped up by Ajax in 2016.

Since joining the Dutch heavyweights, Ziyech has grown from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the rising stars in the game across Europe.

Till date, Ziyech has racked up 160 appearances for Ajax, scoring 48 goals and setting up 82 more, winning a solitary Eredivisie title in the process.

Ziyech’s future had been a subject of intense transfer speculation last summer as well. But the Moroccan attacker stayed put at Ajax and has been in fine form in the ongoing campaign, scoring 9 goals and assisting 21 more in 30 games.

And, Chelsea have pounced early to capture the 26-year-old’ signing. Ziyech will cost the Blues £33.3 million as per a report from Sky Sports and the fee could rise up to £36.7 million with add-ons. The transfer will go through at the end of the season, subject to agreement of personal terms.

Ziyech will prove to be a great addition for Chelsea, who are looking at the possibility of losing two wingers this summer.

Both Willian and Pedro are in the final year of their contracts with Chelsea and are widely expected to leave. And Ziyech, given his age and recent form, might prove to be an upgrade on the veteran duo.

The 26-year-old has been at the top of his game in the past two seasons and will improve the Chelsea attack tremendously, with the pace and incision he offers in the final third, coupled with his wand of a left foot.

Details of the contract are yet to be finalized, but the fact that Chelsea have completed their first big signing ahead of the next season will sure get the fans excited.
