Real Madrid have officially announced that they have signed 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy Reinier Jesus from Flamengo on a six-and-a-half-year deal.

Real Madrid have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of prodigious Brazilian teenager Reinier Jesus. The 18-year-old has signed a six-and-a-half-year deal with Los Blancos and will join up with the Real Madrid Castilla squad.

Brazil is a nation that has had no shortage of generational talents over the years. In recent history, those generational talents have, more often than not, been swooped away to Europe, particularly by fierce Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.

From Neymar to Rodrygo Goes, Real Madrid and Barcelona have become a safe haven for Brazilian prodigies. The latest such talent has also now made his way to Spain, with Real Madrid landing Reinier Jesus on a long-term deal.

Real Madrid’s links with Reinier propped up as back as March 2019, back when he had not even made a senior appearance for Flamengo. Having finally made his Flamengo debut last season, the 18-year-old showcased his qualities to great effect, with 6 goals and 2 assists in 14 league outings.

A technically gifted player with impeccable vision, Jesus is someone who revels in scoring goals, as illustrated by his record in his maiden senior campaign at Flamengo. As a result, his style of play has often helped him draw comparisons with Brazilian legend and former Real Madrid star Kaka.

Sure enough, his qualities were duly noticed by Real Madrid, who have hotly pursued a number of talented prospects over the years in a bid to create a long-term core, which in turn enables smooth transitions from one generation to another. The Spanish heavyweights have now made the signing official, with Reinier following Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes to the Santiago Bernabeu.

As per MARCA, Real Madrid have shelled out €30 million to secure the services of the 18-year-old, a truly astounding sum for a teenager. Reinier has committed to a six-and-a-half-year deal with Los Blancos, which will keep him at the Bernabeu till June 2026.

The player will join up with Real Madrid Castilla, with his first involvement with the squad coming up following the Under-23 Pre-Olympic Tournament campaign with Brazil. It will now be interesting to see if Reinier can have a similar impact as his compatriots over the last couple of years as he gets set for the big move to Real Madrid.
