Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has insisted that he is happy and content with the Serie A giants amid interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.

In an interview with Argentine outlet TyC Sports, Lautaro Martinez has reaffirmed his commitment to Serie A giants Inter Milan. The Argentinean striker is the subject of interest from Premier League duo Manchester United and Manchester City.

Lautaro Martinez has become a hot property following a terrific start to the season, wherein he has come of age. Revelling as one of the two first-choice strikers in Antonio Conte’s teams, the 22-year-old has struck a fine partnership with former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku this term.

In 25 appearances across all competitions, the Argentine international has struck 15 goals, with 3 assists to show for his efforts as well. His exploits have caught the attention of several top clubs in Europe, including English rivals Manchester United and Manchester City.

At Manchester United, the decision to not replace Lukaku following his sale to Serie A giants Inter Milan is proving to be costly in what has been an injury-riddled season for the club. With Marcus Rashford now sidelined, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood remain the only reliable scorers at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal.

With the latter not a regular yet, the need to sign a prolific forward is imperative for Manchester United, which explains why they are eager to land Martinez. Manchester City, on the other hand, seem to be planning for life after Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine international is now on the wrong side of 30 and although he shown little signs of decline, the succession plans for him need to be in place. As a result, Manchester City have had their sights set on Aguero’s compatriot Martinez.

The player, though, has insisted that he is in no hurry to leave Inter Milan anytime soon. In an interview with TyC Sports, as translated by The Sun, Martinez has said that while he is flattered by the interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and other notable suitors, he is happy with the Serie A giants.

“Today, I’m an Inter player and I’m happy here. The fact that they speak well of me means that I’m doing something right and the intention is to continue on this path. I’m calm, happy and at ease with Inter.”

Judging by the 22-year-old’s comments, it seems as if any move this January or perhaps, even in the summer, might not be a possibility. If so, Manchester United and Manchester City will have to set their sights elsewhere in search of a striker.
