Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Sergio Romero will start in goal for Manchester United as they go up against Wolves in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking for a reaction from his Manchester United side after their disappointing 2-0 defeat at Arsenal when they go up against Wolves on Saturday. The Third Round of the FA Cup will see United travel to a place they have failed to record a win under Solskjaer so far.

The first change comes in goal, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming that Sergio Romero will start for Manchester United, while David de Gea has been given a rest. As far as the defence is concerned, we should see Brandon Williams start on the left.

Solskjaer iterated in his pre-match conference that as many as five defenders are on the verge of returning to action for United.

“There’s a little bit of illness in the camp, but that’s normal through this time of year, so we just have to find out tomorrow who’s waking up okay. Apart from that, players are coming back from injuries. Hopefully we can see Axel soon. Tim and Eric are going to play Reserves games soon, hopefully. Diogo’s back obviously, Marcos Rojo hopefully soon back, so we’re getting there.”

Ashley Young should start on the right, with the pairing of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire retained in defence.

In midfield, we should see Andreas Pereira being handed a start. The likes of Dylan Levitt and James Garner could have been afforded an opportunity. But, the two are recovering from their illness and will require some time before they are ready to return to first-team action.

Nemanja Matic should partner Fred in the midfield double pivot, with Pereira handling the number 10 duties.

Mason Greenwood should start in attack. But, the likes of Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are unlikely to be involved in the FA Cup tie against Wolves. Daniel James and Marcus Rashford are almost certain to start for Manchester United and will be the lynchpin for the club as they seek revenge.

Predicted Manchester United Starting XI: Romero; Young, Lindelof, Maguire, Williams; Fred, Matic; James, Pereira, Rashford; Greenwood
