Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly seeking a reunion with Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri in the next summer transfer window.

As per a report from Italian publication Calciomercato, Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri has emerged as a key transfer target for Serie A champions Juventus, with manager Maurizio Sarri believed to be keen on reuniting with the defender.

Emerson arrived at Chelsea from Juventus’ Serie A rivals AS Roma in the winter window of 2018. After a relatively slow start to life in London, the full-back has grown in stature over the past year or so.

Emerson enjoyed a good spell under former Blues’ boss Sarri in the last campaign and started the new season under Frank Lampard as Chelsea’s first choice left-back. However, an injury sustained in September forced him out of action for over a month. The 25-year-old has made ten appearances across all competitions for Chelsea so far this season.

This is not the first time that Juventus have been linked with a move for Emerson. There had been reports during the summer transfer window claiming that the Bianconeri were intent on landing the 25-year-old, following Sarri’s switch from Chelsea to Juventus. However, nothing materialized back then.

The Serie A champions though, as per the report from Calciomercato, have continued to monitor Emerson and are planning on launching a move for the seven-time capped Italian international in the next summer window. To that end, Juventus director Fabio Paratici is believed to be set to hold talks with Chelsea to explore the possibility of a transfer.

However, Chelsea have no interest in offloading the 25-year-old, who is contracted to the club till the summer of 2022. And in order to stave off any interest from potential suitors such as Juventus, the Blues have reportedly already put forth a new and improved deal for Emerson.

When fit and available, Emerson remains Chelsea’s first pick at left-back ahead of Marcos Alonso and seems to enjoy the trust of manager Lampard. And it is unlikely that he would want to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge at this point of time.

However, a lot could change between now and the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if Juventus do decide to act on their interest in the Chelsea star come summer.
