Manchester United are reportedly plotting a £70 million summer bid to bring Crystal Palace superstar Wilfried Zaha back to Old Trafford.

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United have weighing up a possible move to bring Wilfried Zaha back to Old Trafford in next summer’s transfer window. The Premier League giants are lining up a £70 million bid to re-sign the Crystal Palace superstar.

Zaha had a lot of hype surrounding him when he became Sir Alex Ferguson’s last ever signing back in 2013. But, the Ivory Coast international struggled to settle at Old Trafford and was sold back to Crystal Palace in January 2015. And, since returning to South London, the player has had a second wind in what was becoming a stuttering career.

Now the Eagles’ talisman, Zaha has commanded the interest of some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with Arsenal being linked the most heavily with him in the summer. The Gunners ultimately ended up signing Nicolas Pepe and now, Manchester United are being linked with a move for Zaha.

Manchester United were another one of the reported suitors for Zaha in the summer transfer window before any move failed to materialise. The continued interest from the Premier League’s fallen giants, though, comes off as interesting.

Marcus Rashford and Daniel James are the regular suspects out wide for Manchester United. But, beyond the duo, there is precious little in terms of quality and quantity. What also makes Zaha a viable target for the Red Devils is the fact that he can also play centrally in advanced areas.

To that end, Manchester United are plotting a move for their former star for next summer’s transfer window. Fleeting interest from Arsenal remains, but The Sun suggest that Manchester United are in pole position to snap Zaha up in what would be a £70 million deal.

Zaha would still prefer a cross-London switch. But, Crystal Palace prefer selling to Manchester United, due to their strong working relationship with the club, thereby providing the Red Devils a further boost in their pursuit of Zaha.

It now remains to be seen if Manchester United indeed hold a concrete interest in Zaha. And if so, it will be interesting to see if they lodge a £70 million bid to swoop him away from Crystal Palace and back to Old Trafford.
