Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is reportedly drawing interest from clubs in China and MLS ahead of the January transfer window.
According to a report by Daily Telegraph, Adam Lallana has emerged on the radars of clubs in China and the Major League Soccer. Liverpool are set to offer the English midfielder a new deal, with his current contract set to run out at the end of the season.
Lallana has endured quite a struggle over the last couple of years at Liverpool. Rocked by injuries, the Englishman, who was a first-team regular in his first four seasons with the Reds, has fallen down the pecking order so much over the last couple of years that he now remains but a bit-part player at Anfield.
Indeed, since the start of the 2017-18 season, Lallana has started just 11 games while also becoming an afterthought for the English national side. With his Liverpool contract set to run out next summer, there have been suggestions that the 31-year-old might just be playing his final campaign with the Merseyside club.
Back in the summer, it was even mooted that a return to Southampton could be on the cards. But, Lallana ended up staying put, only to continue remaining a backup option. Heading into the January transfer window, though, it appears as if a move away from Liverpool could be a possibility.
The report suggests that Lallana is emerging as a target for clubs in MLS and China, with these outfits monitoring his situation at Liverpool. However, the identity of the clubs has not been mentioned, with Daily Telegraph only pointing towards a January departure could be on the cards.
Widespread reports have indicated that Liverpool are open to the idea of selling Lallana, but want to first tie him down to a new deal, which is understandable. A contract renewal would boost his valuation, thereby giving the Reds additional windfall from his sale.
As far as the player himself is concerned, an exit from Anfield ought to stand him in good stead so as to enjoy a second wind in the latter stages of his career after struggling for minutes at Liverpool in the last couple of years. What now remains to be seen is if clubs from MLS and China step up their interest in Lallana when the transfer window reopens in January.
