Liverpool are reportedly ready to offload English international Adam Lallana next summer if he continues to play a bit-part role for the club.

According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool are open to the idea of selling Adam Lallana in next summer’s transfer window, if he remains on the fringes of the first-team by the time the 2019-20 season ends.

Lallana arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2014 on the back of a stellar 2013-14 campaign leading Southampton, which also helped him become a full fledged English international. Initially a regular, the 31-year-old featured 125 times in his first three seasons with the Reds, particularly enjoying the confidence of Jurgen Klopp.

But, injury troubles have since beset his career, with his 2017-18 campaign rocked by hamstring troubles. As a result, Lallana has managed to start just 9 games for Liverpool since the start of the 2017-18 season and has also ended up losing his place in the national side.

Things have not improved much this term either, with the English international being reduced to a bit-part role. With Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, vice-captain James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all ahead of him in the pecking order, his fortunes are unlikely to improve going further.

The drop down the order has invariably paved the way for Lallana’s Liverpool future being uncertain for quite some. Linked with a return to Southampton in the summer, an exit from Anfield continues to loom large for the player.

The report suggests that Liverpool could be willing to listen to offers for Lallana in next summer’s transfer window, if he is unable to improve his fortunes as the season wears on. Any January move, however, is unlikely to be sanctioned by Klopp, considering the need for squad depth in the second half of the season.

On a personal front, a move away from Liverpool makes sense for the English international, seeing as he barely features for the Merseyside club anymore. A switch could help him resurrect a stuttering career, giving him a second wind before the twilight of his playing days come about.

Football Insider, though, have not named any possible suitors, although AC Milan were reportedly named as shock suitors recently. For now, what remains certain is that Lallana faces an uncertain future at Liverpool, who could end up offloading him next summer.
