Manchester United legend Paul Ince is scared of a potential bottom half finish for the struggling Premier League heavyweights.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Paul Ince has made a scathing verbal attack on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the state that Manchester United find themselves in. The Red Devils’ legend is concerned about the club’s current Premier League position and is worried that they could be set for a bottom half finish this season.
Manchester United are in disarray at the moment. Having managed just four wins from 11 games in all competitions this season, it is clear that the bad run towards the end of last term was not just a mere blip. The latest setback saw them being beaten by Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
The 1-0 defeat left Manchester United in 12th place on the Premier League table, just three points outside the relegation zone. In face, so dreary is the situation that they have grabbed three points in just one of their last seven Premier League games and have failed to win a single away game since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as the permanent manager.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Red Devils, who have managed to score more than once in just one game all season – their very first game against Chelsea. And, Paul Ince, who has always been vocal in panning Solskjaer, has held nothing back in his criticism of the Manchester United boss, in an interview with talkSPORT.
“We know Ole is going to get criticised and will come under pressure because he’s not getting results, but also because we’re not getting any signs that it’s going to improve. They could finish in the bottom half of the table. When I’m seeing Ole after the games saying, ‘we’re working hard, we’re working hard’, I keep thinking we just want to see what they’re actually working on,” Ince said.
“When I see the team I don’t see what they’re doing. I don’t see their patterns of play and I don’t see how they’re working from an attacking point of view, because they’re not creating chances – they’re not even having any shots. I just don’t know what they’re actually doing at Manchester United.”
Indeed, Manchester United often look short of ideas when going forward and in the absence of key players like Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, they are lacking both a creative as well as a goal threat.
With bitter rivals Liverpool, who are perched atop the Premier League table with a 100 per cent record their next opponents, things could go from bad to worse for Manchester United. Solskjaer needs to fix things fast if Manchester United are to even keep their top six place intact.
