Juventus are reportedly looking to bring in Chelsea winger Willian during the summer of 2020, with the Brazilian having less than a year left on his deal.

According to Daily Mail, Willian is the next target on Juventus’ list of players to be brought in on free transfers. The Italian giants have shortlisted the Chelsea winger and will look to bring the player in during the summer of 2020, with the Brazilian having less than a year left on his current deal.

In the past few years, Juventus have completed the signings of superstars of the footballing world on free transfers. The likes of Emre Can, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot come to mind, with Gianluigi Buffon also returning to the club on a free transfer this summer.

Willian has been a staple at Chelsea since his arrival in the summer of 2013. Over the last six years, Willian has gone on to win 5 trophies with the club, with a record of 52 goals and 53 assists in 295 appearances for the Blues. Despite being a regular in the first-team squad, Willian has never been able to have an insane season by the numbers.

The Brazilian is yet to record a season finish with Chelsea with double figures in number of goals, with his return gradually decreasing since the 2016-17 season. Willian’s influence has waned on the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge in recent times, with a large section of the fans also turning on the Brazilian on social media forums.

Willian has a year left on his current Chelsea deal and it could be his last year at the club. Chelsea currently have Christian Pulisic, Pedro, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi as options for the two wing spots. But, with the club set to be allowed to sign players in the summer of 2020, with the two-window ban lapsing after the January 2020 window, the Blues could use the market to freshen up their options in attack.

There were conflicting reports in the summer transfer window, with some stating that Chelsea were set to hand Willian a new two-year deal while other reports iterated that the Blues were prepared to listen to offers for the Brazilian international.

Willian is already 31 and will be 32 by the summer of 2020. Thus, not offering a new deal to a veteran like the Brazilian falls in line with how the club has operated as regards to contract extensions of players above the age of 30.
