Bayern Munich have turned their attention towards Gareth Bale, who has been identified as an ideal alternative for prime target Leroy Sane.

According to The Sun, Bayern Munich are ready to offer Gareth Bale a lifeline by prising him away from Real Madrid this summer. It is believed that the Welshman has emerged as the club’s desired alternative for Leroy Sane.

Bale was reportedly on the verge of a move to China last month, with Real Madrid willing to terminate his contract. But, the former European champions pulled the plug on the move at the last minute as the club wanted to sell him instead of letting him for free.

The problem, however, is that Bale still has three years remaining on his current contract at the club. The Welshman bags a hefty £600k per week, which is causing financial problems for the club as they look to balance their wage structure following the arrival of Luka Jovic, Eden Hazard and Ferland Mendy, among many others.

Bale’s departure would also help them fund move for their remaining midfield targets. Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Ajax’s Donny van de Beek have been identified as two prime targets for Los Merengues as head to the final phase of the transfer window.

As for Bayern Munich, they were dealt with a massive transfer blow when Manchester City rebuffed their £72 million bid for Sane. The Sky Blues were angered by Niko Kovac’s unprofessional stance on the transfer saga and are now holding out for a considerably higher fee. Moreover, the winger endured an injury during the Community Shield match against Liverpool.

Therefore, Bayern’s recent interest in Bale makes sense. The ex-Spurs attacker could be a decent option in their bid to reinforce their offensive department following the departure of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, with the latter retiring from professional football.

Their absence from the team has left a huge void in the Bayern attack that visibly struggled to perform in the DFL Supercup against Borussia Dortmund. Bale, in that regard, could potentially solve the Bavarians’ problems in the final third of the pitch. His pace and athleticism are ideal characteristics for any player playing under Kovac.

But most importantly, the 30-year-old has a vast experience at the highest level of football, which means he is unlikely to take time settling into the Bundesliga. Besides, he can also provide the winning mentality. His experience of winning the Champions League could be useful as the German powerhouse look to end their drought in European football in the upcoming campaign.
