Fenerbahce have made a shocking enquiry about the availability of James Rodriguez and Lucas Silva, both of who have an uncertain future at Real Madrid.

According to TRT Sport, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Fenerbahce’s sporting director Damien Comolli has established contact with the Real Madrid officials over the possibility of signing James Rodriguez and Lucas Silva. The Turkish outfit are looking to take advantage of the uncertain future of both these players in an attempt to lure them to the Super Lig this summer.

Real Madrid, however, have reiterated that they are not willing to consider offers for Rodriguez unless the interested club offers a considerable amount of money. As for Silva, it is SL Benfica who are tipped as the frontrunners to sign the midfielder, who is keen to put an end to his miserable spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazilian initially joined the club in January 2015. But, he has made only nine competitive appearances for Los Merengues during his over four-year spell that included loan moves to Marseille and Cruzeiro. The 26-year-old is recently coming back from a loan spell at Cruzeiro but is unlikely to make an impact on the first-team. Hence, a move away from the Bernabeu makes sense.

Rodriguez, on the other hand, may have a glorious opportunity to become a first-team regular at Real Madrid next season despite the arrival of Rodrygo and Eden Hazard. Rodrygo, in particular, is a long-term investment and is unlikely to become a vital part of the attack right from the get-go. As for Gareth Bale, he doesn’t share a healthy relationship with Zinedine Zidane while Isco has struggled to perform over the past 12 months.

Even Marco Asensio failed to find the back of the net on a consistent basis last season. And this could pave the way for the Colombian to make an impact during the 2019/20 season. Besides, a move to Fenerbahce may not be the most logical choice for James, who still has the quality to join any of Europe’s top five leagues. He was notably linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer.

For Silva, however, the Turkish giants will offer them the opportunity of reviving his career. But even then, a move to Benfica makes much more sense from a linguistic perspective as well as the fact that the Eagles have a certain identity and known for their proficiency of nurturing talented individuals.
