Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has advised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sell Paul Pogba amid interest from Real Madrid.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Teddy Sheringham has given a piece of advice to former strike partner Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Englishman has urged the Manchester United manager to sell Paul Pogba this summer, claiming it would be best for everyone if the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner departed from Old Trafford.

Pogba has garnered a bit of a reputation of being a troublemaker even though he has arguably been the best player for Manchester United since returning from Juventus. Either way, the player is one of the most vital cogs in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad as United embark on another transition period.

But, the Red Devils are reportedly having to fend off interest in their talisman for pretty much the entire summer transfer window. The likes of Juventus and PSG have had fleeting links with Pogba, but it is the persistent interest from Real Madrid which would have left Manchester United worried.

The Premier League heavyweights’ bid to keep hold of their star midfielder has not been helped much by his comments pointing towards wanting a new challenge this summer. As a result, Los Blancos have reportedly been hot in pursuit of the 26-year-old.

Recent reports have even iterated that Real Madrid are confident of swooping Pogba away from Manchester United this summer to finally complete the squad overhaul process that has seen them splash the big bucks in the current window.

But, the Red Devils are keen on keeping hold of the player and are looking to open contract talks with him, as per widespread reports. Manchester United though, have been urged to act on the contrary by one of their former players, with Teddy Sheringham insisting in an interview with talkSPORT that selling Pogba would be the right decision.

“I just don’t think it’s the right fit. I think he’s upset a lot of people with his demeanour and his attitude at Old Trafford. It would be best for everyone involved if he left. If Real Madrid want him, whatever they’re paying, let him go. Use the money to go and buy someone who really wants to be playing for Man United, showing how good he is and what their worth is.”

Sheringham seemingly feels strongly about a summer exit for Pogba, although if reports are to be believed, Manchester United do not intend to sell the Frenchman. With less than ten days left in the summer transfer window, it will be extremely difficult to land a replacement as well, and it looks like any move, if at all, might have to be shelved until a later window.
