Bayern Munich are rumoured to be interested in signing Wilfried Zaha and ready to rival Arsenal in the pursuit of the Crystal Palace star.

Arsenal are trying to make rapid movements in the transfer market and have their sights set on specific targets. But, there could be a late twist in the saga of their primary target. According to 90 min, Bayern Munich have entered the race for Arsenal’s top target Wilfried Zaha, as Niko Kovac continues his squad overhaul.

Zaha’s future has been one of the hot topics this window. Arsenal have been the primary contenders for the forward, but have so far been unable to agree terms with Crystal Palace. Arsenal are expected to place an improved offer, with the Eagles holding out for nearly £80 million.

Even Zaha’s insistence on leaving this summer has so far not helped the Gunners’ cause. Furthermore, rivals are watching the Zaha developments with keen interest and are ready to take advantage of Arsenal’s reluctance to meet his valuation.

Most recently, Everton were rumoured to be prepared to pay Crystal Palace’s asking price, although there might be nothing concrete in those links. However, Arsenal may have a cause for worry, because Bayern Munich have reportedly entered the race to sign Zaha.

Bayern have been in the market for a wide man. Since two of their long-serving wingers, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery departed the club, Niko Kovac has been hunting for replacements. Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman have a good standing in the squad, but Bayern want to add another quality star to their ranks.

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane remains their priority target. The German side had been in Sane’s pursuit in the earlier days of the window and stay interested if another opportunity comes forward. Manchester City were expecting Bayern to come back with another offer, but the Bundesliga champions have been put off by City’s demands for the winger.

So Bayern are rumoured to have switched their attention towards Zaha. The Ivorian is available for £80 million, but Bayern might tempt them with an offer similar to that of Sane, something to the tune of £70 million.

Zaha, on the other hand, wants a move away from Crystal Palace to join a big club. The player wants to make his mark at the highest level once more having endured a torrid two-year spell at Manchester United. It is well-reported that Zaha prefers Arsenal, although if Bayern do make an offer, it could test the player’s resolve.

Zaha’s consistent performances will let him fit in any of the big sides. It remains to be seen though, if his desire to move to a bigger club means he will only join Arsenal or if he is open to joining any other team. Unlike Arsenal, Zaha is not a priority target for Bayern. The German club will try their hand once more for Sane, and the Zaha links are simply rumours, or so it feels that way.
