Arsenal are reportedly plotting an improved bid for Wilfried Zaha, who is valued at £80 million by Premier League club Crystal Palace.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Arsenal are not giving up on their pursuit of Wilfried Zaha, who continues to remain a key target for the Gunners. But, Crystal Palace are not budging from their £80 million valuation of the former Manchester United winger.

The move to Manchester United might not have panned out like anyone would have envisioned. But, Wilfried Zaha has taken the failures at Old Trafford in his stride to turn a corner upon returning to boyhood club Crystal Palace.

Now the outright best player at Selhurst Park, the Ivory Coast international is regarded as one of the best attackers in the Premier League, with the Eagles struggling to secure points when he is not available. However, five years after returning to Palace, Zaha is reportedly ready to move to greener pastures, with Arsenal showing an interest in him.

The Gunners are going hell for leather for the former Manchester United star this summer, as Unai Emery looks to add natural wingers to his squad. Last season, despite being one of the most exciting attacking units in the Premier League, Arsenal lacked dynamism due to the very reason that they did not have natural wide men.

As a result, a number of wingers have been linked with Arsenal this summer, with Zaha reportedly being their priority. However, the North Londoners’ reported £40 million bid for the 26-year-old was quickly knocked back by Palace, who slapped an £80 million price tag on their talisman.

Add to it, the fact that Everton have recently emerged as contenders to sign the player and Arsenal seem to have a steep hill to climb in their bid to land their key target. But, the Gunners are not throwing in the towel just yet, with the report claiming that the former Premier League champions are set to table an improved bid for Zaha this week.

But, with Crystal Palace refusing to budge from their £80 million valuation, it remains to be seen if Arsenal can do anything to raise the required figure, seeing as they are hampered by their restricted budget. The Eagles know that they are under no pressure to sell Zaha, having already raised a huge chunk of money by selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United.

While Zaha has reportedly expressed his desire to depart from Selhurt Park, Sky Sports claim that the Eagles will continue to hold out for £80 million. It now remains to be seen if Arsenal can do anything to land Zaha this summer. But, they need to get a move on fast, with time running out before the summer transfer window slams shut in England.
