Manchester United will reportedly reignite their interest in priority attacking target Jadon Sancho if Paul Pogba is sold this summer.

According to a report by Forbes, Manchester United are considering revisiting their interest in Jadon Sancho. The Premier League heavyweights though, will only make a move for the English winger, who is valued at £100 million by Borussia Dortmund, if Paul Pogba leaves this summer.

Jadon Sancho has become a hot property on the back of his breakthrough campaign as a senior footballer. Having taken a brave decision to leave the shores of England to join Borussia Dortmund while still in his formative years as a professional footballer, the player’s decision has not just been vindicated but ended up making him the poster boy for Englishman abroad.

As for the numbers, Sancho had a return of 13 goals and 19 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, making him the most creative player for the Bundesliga giants this past season. And, his exploits have not just earned him his maiden cap for his national side but also attracted several top clubs, with Manchester United being linked the most heavily.

The Premier League heavyweights have had a gaping hole in their attacking unit for quite some time, with the absence of a natural right winger. The likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata have been deployed the most on the right flank by both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. As a result, Sancho has been viewed as a priority by Manchester United to bolster the position.

But, a dreadful end to the season, that saw them finish sixth on the Premier League table and miss out on UEFA Champions League for the next term, has created a major obstacle for them. With no Champions League football on offer, Sancho is considering not to join Manchester United this summer, having previously been open to the idea of a move.

Additionally, with Borussia Dortmund unwilling to do business with any suitors, United had called off their pursuit of Sancho, as per reports. But, Forbes journalist Sam Pilger claims that the Red Devils could reignite their interest in the 19-year-old despite Michael Zorc’s comments insisting that he will not be sold this summer.

The report suggests that while Manchester United had initially been put off by Sancho’s £100 million valuation, they would be ready to spend the big bucks for him in the case that Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku leave.

Otherwise, with a major rebuilding job at hand, spending £100 million on one player would restrict Manchester United considerably. However, with Pogba heavily linked with both Juventus and Real Madrid and Lukaku being courted by Inter Milan, the Premier League giants could add a lot of money to their summer budget.

Having said that, Borussia Dortmund’s stance makes it a tough predicament for Manchester United to overcome. Then, there is also the matter of persuading Sancho to join them, and with just around six weeks remaining for the transfer window to slam shut in England, it remains to be seen if United can seal the deal for their priority target.
