Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer a £500,000 per week mega deal to Paul Pogba in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid and Juventus.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Manchester United are prepared to make Paul Pogba their highest paid player in order to keep him from the clutches of Real Madrid and Juventus. To that end, the Premier League heavyweights are readying a £500,000-a-week contract for the French international.

By now, it is anyone’s guess as to which club Paul Pogba will be representing next season. While Manchester United are understandably eager to keep hold of their best player, interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world – clubs that will be playing Champions League football next term – seems to have left him unsettled.

To make matters even more concerning for Manchester United, Pogba made his future at Old Trafford even more unsettled by admitting that he is ready for a new challenge. As a result, the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus, who have been linked the most heavily with him, would fancy their chances of snapping him up this summer.

Real Madrid have been on a rampage this summer, having already signed four players for their first-team setup thus far. But, one area that continues to pose some concern is midfield, following the struggles of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric this past season.

With Modric clearly nearing the end of his glittering career, the time is right for Real Madrid to lay down the succession plan for the Croat, which explains why they have turned their attention towards Manchester United and Pogba.

Juventus, on the other hand, have a bevy of midfielders for Maurizio Sarri to consider, with Aaron Ramsey set to be added to his options. Having said that, with Sami Khedira being beset with a myriad of fitness and health concerns and Blaise Matuidi on the wrong side of 30, Pogba’s return could help the Bianconeri create a long-term unit of Pogba, Ramsey, Emre Can and Rodrigo Bentancur.

But, Manchester United are intent on keeping hold of the 26-year-old, even though his attitude remains a concern. To that end, they are set to table a staggering mega deal worth £500,000 per week.

While it is unclear whether the lucrative contract, which will make him the club’s highest scorer, will do the job, United would hope it is enough for them to rebuff the advances of Real Madrid and Juventus.

Manchester United have already strived to keep hold of Pogba once, when they managed to fend off Barcelona last summer. And, they need a similar effort in the wake of the player’s comments and a £90 million bid from Real Madrid. It now remains to be seen if they indeed table the reported £500,000-a-week deal and if so, it is enough to keep hold of their talisman.
