Manchester United are reportedly lining up a £25 million bid for PSV Eindhoven right-back Denzel Dumfries with their pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka hitting the price tag barrier.

Manchester United are aware that a right-back is high on their agenda. And it seems they are ready to target others if they do not succeed in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka. As per the report from The Sun, Manchester United are now lining up a move for PSV Eindhoven right-back Denzel Dumfries.

It is public information that Aaron Wan-Bissaka remains a priority for Manchester United. But, with Crystal Palace continuing to up their demands for the Englishman, Manchester United have to either bow to it or move on to other targets. The talks have been dragging on and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to sign most of the players before the pre-season begins.

Denzel Dumfries may not be Aaron Wan-Bissaka. But, the PSV right-back is not inferior by any means. In fact, the 23-year-old, like the Crystal Palace star, had a breakout 2018-19 campaign. Arriving at PSV from Heerenveen in the summer of 2018, Dumfries was a key part of the back four straight away and had a decent return of 4 goals and 7 assists in Eredivisie.

The 23-year-old has also become a regular part of the Dutch National Setup under Ronald Koeman and played the entire 120 minutes against England as Netherlands beat the Three Lions 3-1 in extra time. As Wan-Bissaka’s deal keeps becoming difficult, Dumfries has emerged as a viable option.

Manchester United have Diogo Dalot. But, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has deployed the Portuguese in an advanced position on the right flank and the manager could continue to rotate the youngster between positions on the right, depending on need. A quality right-back though, is still needed to replace Antonio Valencia, who is set to become a free agent at the end of June.

One of the most attractive aspects of chasing Dumfries is the fact that the report states PSV will allow the player to leave for £25 million, which is stupendously low compared to what Crystal Palace are trying to get for Wan-Bissaka.

Dumfries is tall, has a good tackle on him and is more attacking in nature compared to Wan-Bissaka. The price quoted, if true, could prove to be a bargain deal for Manchester United. The 23-year-old has 4 years left on his PSV deal, which combined with his young age and the fact that he is now a regular for Netherlands more than justifies the £25 million valuation.

We could see this deal happen if Manchester United are unable to make a breakthrough in their negotiations with Crystal Palace for Aaron Wan-Bissaka within the coming days.
