Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has issued a come-get-me-plea to Real Madrid, having admitted that he is ready to leave the Premier League club.

In an interview with Danish magazine Ekstra Bladet, as quoted by The Sun, Christian Eriksen has provided major boost in their bid to sign him in the summer transfer window. The Danish playmaker has admitted that he is open to the idea of leaving Premier League side Tottenham.

Christian Eriksen has established himself as one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Tottenham. And, this past season, he was in his elements, playing an instrumental role in Spurs’ progression to the UEFA Champions League final.

But, after six productive seasons at the North London club, the Dane faces an uncertain future at Tottenham. With just a year remaining on his deal with Spurs and a renewal not agreed upon, chances are Eriksen might have played for the final time for the Lilywhites. And, Real Madrid are hoping to take advantage of the situation.

This past season saw Los Blancos struggle to no end, with just about every department failing to deliver. Creativity was a major issue for Real Madrid over the course of the season, with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric both showing signs of regression.

While Kroos has signed a new long-term deal with the La Liga giants, Modric is quite evidently in the twilight of his career. Real Madrid thus, need to lay down the succession plan for the Croat in the wake of one of his worst ever seasons.

To that end, Eriksen has emerged as a viable target for the Merengues, with reports suggesting that they had even reached verbal agreement with him over a summer move. And, the Danish international might have given Real Madrid a major boost in their bid to sign him, having suggested that he is ready to leave Tottenham.

Speaking to Danish magazine Ekstra Bladet, Eriksen said, “I feel like I am in a place in my career where I might want to try something new. I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened at Tottenham. But I have also said that I would like to try something new. I hope there will be clarification during the summer, that’s the plan.”

The latest comments are the clearest indication yet that Eriksen is ready to call it quits at Tottenham and a summer move may just be on the cards. It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid pounce on the opportunity and launch the offensive for the Danish superstar soon enough.
