Manchester United have reportedly established contact with Mino Raiola over Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is seen as a  potential David de Gea replacement.

According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere della Serra, Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Premier League heavyweights have made contact with the AC Milan goalkeeper’s agent Mino Raiola amid concerns over the future of David de Gea.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has garnered a lot of hype since breaking into the AC Milan first-team setup aged just 16. Since then, he has gone on to become the first-choice goalkeeper for both club and country, and is regarded as one of the best stoppers in Italy at the present moment.

The latest season might not have been an entirely convincing one for Donnarumma, but he remains one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the world, making him an eye-catching commodity. And, Manchester United are reportedly eyeing him as a potential replacement for David de Gea.

For years, de Gea has been a constant for Manchester United through all their trials and tribulations. But, the Spaniard’s future has been the subject of concern at Old Trafford for quite some time now, with reports indicating that the Red Devils have been trying to tie him down to a new deal for well over a year now.

The latest offer from Manchester United has reportedly been rejected by de Gea, following which they are now weighing up a sale so as to cash in on him, considering his current deal has just twelve months remaining. And, Donnarumma is now a priority for the Premier League giants.

Corriere della Serra have suggested that Manchester United have now taken a big step towards making a move for the 20-year-old, having established contact with his agent, Mino Raiola. With Milan dealing with a lot of uncertainties in the wake of the departures of Gennaro Gattuso and Leonardo from their posts.

It is believed that the Rossoneri could be forced to sell a number of players after missing out on Champions League football, with Donnarumma being one of them. Having said that, Manchester United will not be able to offer the same.

However, if talks were to proceed between the three parties involved, Manchester United could be told to fork out up to €60 million for Donnarumma. For now, the deal remains in the early stages and it remains to be seen how things proceed in United’s bid for the Italian international, with a lot depending on David de Gea’s future as well.
