Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is keen to reunite with former AS Roma teammate Daniele De Rossi, who is available for a free transfer this summer.

Mohamed Salah has recently opened up about his wish to reunite with former AS Roma teammate Daniele De Rossi, as reported by Daily Mail. The Italian midfielder is set to leave Roma this summer after 18 years of service but his future remains uncertain.

De Rossi played with Salah during their time together at Roma. It is believed that the two are good friends. And speaking to Di Marzio, the Liverpool forward said, “It would be pleasing for me to play with him again, he is an optimal player. He is a legend of the club and of Italian football, not just because he is a great friend of mine.”, as quoted by Daily Mail.

From a sporting perspective, De Rossi’s potential move to Liverpool seems rather absurd. The Reds enjoyed their best ever Premier League campaign in the recently concluded season and are in with the opportunity of winning the UEFA Champions League this weekend.

And going forward, Jurgen Klopp will be keen to maintain this level of consistency and dominance over the opposition. Hence, he will be need of new signings, who can not only add more quality to the side but also provide the youthful exuberance in order to thrive in the German’s physically demanding Gegenpressing style of play.

And as far as experience is concerned, Liverpool already have the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and even Virgil van Dijk, all of who are capable enough leaders.

As for De Rossi, himself, a move to Anfield might give him the opportunity to reunite with Salah. But, the veteran midfielder has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League, which perhaps would be a better fit for him.

De Rossi is already in the final phase of his career and a move to China will be financially more suitable for the Italian. The Chinese Super League is also not as physically demanding as the Premier League. And with more and more players moving to the CSL in recent years, De Rossi might play a key role in further enhancing the quality as well as the reputation of the Chinese top flight from a worldwide perspective.

However, De Rossi has also been linked with a move to Boca Juniors and it will be interesting to see where the veteran midfielder ends up this summer.
