Manchester United are reportedly set to be offered the chance to sign Real Madrid superstar Keylor Navas in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Daily Telegraph, Real Madrid are in touch with intermediaries to move Keylor Navas on to an English club in the summer transfer window. In the wake of these developments, the Costa Rican goalkeeper is set to be offered to Manchester United, where the future of David de Gea is up in the air.

2018-19 has been a difficult season for Manchester United, who have officially missed out on the chance to play Champions League football next season, following their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town. And, in what has been a punch in the face of the fallen giants, David de Gea has been far from his best this term.

Thus, the one position that almost always had complete assurance over the last few years has now been mired in uncertainty. To make matters worse, de Gea is being heavily linked with a move to PSG, which would be a further blow for Manchester United. The Premier League heavyweights though, could have the chance to snap up a Real Madrid superstar.

As per Daily Telegraph, Real Madrid are ready to keep faith in Thibaut Courtois, who has now started the last two games for them. And, in retaining the services of Courtois, Keylor Navas’ fate is set to be sealed, with the experienced goalkeeper set to be on the transfer list at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Navas joined Real Madrid in the wake of a stupendous 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign and has since enjoyed five fruitful seasons in the Spanish capital. His journey with Los Blancos has come with its share of ups and downs, but the 32-year-old has still managed to remain one of the best goalkeepers across Europe in this period.

Manchester United are reportedly prioritising the pursuit of Jan Oblak should de Gea leave, but it is unclear if the Slovenian will be open to making his way to Old Trafford, with no Champions League football on offer. Navas is thus, a viable alternative for the Premier League heavyweights to consider.

In signing the Real Madrid superstar, who will be a short-term solution for them, Manchester United can also have breathing room to allow promising youngster Dean Henderson to continue growing away on loan before eventually making him the first-choice goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also looking to use their interest in Paul Pogba by using Navas as a sweetener in any possible deal. But, it remains to be seen if Manchester United are even interested in landing the veteran goalkeeper, or if they set their sights elsewhere in the case that David de Gea leaves.
