Arsenal have reportedly received a major boost in pursuit of 21-year-old Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr, who has been taking Ligue 1 by storm.

According to a report by French outlet Le 10 Sport, Rennes are ready to cash in on their in-form winger Ismaila Sarr in the summer transfer window. Arsenal have thus, been boosted in the race to sign the Senegalese superstar, who will cost around €50 million.

Ismaila Sarr has created quite a burgeoning reputation for himself since joining Rennes in the summer of 2017. Now in his second season with the Ligue 1 outfit, he has managed to become an indispensable figure at Roazhon Park, having made 42 appearances across all competitions this season.

His returns are quite admirable as well, with the 21-year-old winger having 10 goals and 12 assists to show for his efforts. His exploits have been noticed by one of the best clubs in Europe, with Arsenal, who are interested in securing his services this summer, reportedly holding talks with Rennes over a possible transfer.

The interest from the Premier League heavyweights is quite simple to explain, with Unai Emery being bereft of natural wingers in his squad. The same has forced the Arsenal manager to field players out of position, which has often affected the effectiveness of his attack.

Therefore, signing a winger has reportedly become a priority for the Gunners, who have also been linked with Ryan Fraser lately. But, as per the report, Sarr is the priority for Arsenal, who have now received a major boost in his pursuit.

Rennes are ready to cash in on their star winger in the summer transfer window, although the player’s price tag might force Arsenal into a rethink. The report suggests that the Ligue 1 club will demand €50 million in exchange for the 21-year-old Senegalese international, which might be prohibitive for the North Londoners.

Arsenal are known to be operating on a limited budget, which also meant that Emery did not have a single penny to spend in the January transfer window. But, widespread reports have also suggested that the Gunners will add to their summer budget by offloading a few players, which is how they could raise the €50 million to sign Sarr.

What does stand Arsenal in good stead though, is that Rennes are willing to do business for an amount as low as €30 million, and it now remains to be seen if the Premier League giants will be able to land their top target in the summer transfer window.
