Arsenal have reportedly scouted Paris Saint-Germain starlet Christopher Nkunku again ahead of potential bid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by French outlet Mercato 365, Arsenal sent scouts to watch Christopher Nkunku in action for PSG earlier this week in their 4-0 win over Dijon. The Premier League heavyweights were interested to sign the Frenchman on loan in January, and are eager to secure his services in the summer transfer window.

Nkunku has been at PSG ever since joined their youth setup from RCP Fontainebleau in 2010. After rapidly progressing through the ranks in the club’s academy, the player finally broke into the first-team setup in 2015 and he has gradually gone about carving out a place for himself in the side.

The current campaign has seen Nkunku grow in stature, having made 23 appearances in all competitions for Les Parisiens, with four goals and two assists to show for his efforts. And, Arsenal are reportedly showing an interest in snapping him up ahead of the summer transfer window having also been keen on signing the 21-year-old on loan in the January transfer window.

In the end, however, a move failed to materialise on deadline day for the North Londoners after being ‘held back by financial commitments’. But, the interest in the PSG midfielder has not withered away, with Arsenal still monitoring his progress.

Nkunku is a central midfielder by trade, which would make the Gunners’ interest in him seem a bit perplexing. But, the fact that the 21-year-old has shown the tendency to play as a winger on either flank equally adeptly as in central roles suggests that Arsenal might be eyeing the French youngster with some other ideas in mind.

A lack of natural wingers has proven to be one weakness in the Arsenal attack, something that Unai Emery is reportedly keen on addressing – the likes of Cengiz Under and Ismaila Sarr have been linked with the Premier League giants of late.

Alternatively, Nkunku could also be a long-term replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who will join Juventus in the summer. And, the report iterates that Arsenal had scouts present during PSG’s 4-0 hammering of Dijon earlier this week and are pondering a bid to land him permanently in the summer.

Mercato 365 also add that the Gunners might stand a good chance of swooping Nkunku away from Parc des Princes, as the player could call it quits at PSG in the summer, with a little over 12 months left on his deal.

It now remains to be seen if Arsenal’s interest translates into a serious move in the summer transfer window. As of now, the Gunners continue to scout Christopher Nkunku heavily and a transfer away from PSG could well be in the offing.
