Juventus are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio in the wake of the Spaniard having his role reduced.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttosport, Marco Asensio is the subject of interest from Juventus over a possible move in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid though, are unwilling to part ways with the Spanish midfielder despite affording him little game time in recent weeks.

Marco Asensio has been regarded as the golden boy of Spanish football ever since he enjoyed his breakthrough campaign in 2016-17. Since then, he has progressed leaps and bounds, but has also seen his fair share of lows, particularly this season.

The young Spaniard had begun the campaign well, but has since tailed off considerably, owing largely to injuries. Asensio has started just one game since the turn of the year, having struggled to make an impact since returning from injury. And, if Tuttosport are to be believed, Juventus are now in for the Real Madrid midfielder.

The interest in Asensio could perhaps be stemming from the fact that Paulo Dybala is reportedly facing an uncertain future at the club, with Real Madrid coincidentally linked with him. Should Dybala indeed leave, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri will have Douglas Costa, Federico Bernardeschi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Juan Cuadrado as his options out wide.

But, Ronaldo is also used in a central role, while Cuadrado is only a squad player for the Bianconeri, meaning Asensio would be a viable target for the Serie A champions. However, swooping him away from the Bernabeu will be a tough ask, as per the report.

Tuttosport suggest that while Asensio has seen his role being reduced in the last few months, Real Madrid are still unwilling to part ways with the young midfielder, who is still regarded highly by the club.

But, with Florentino Perez keen on revamping the first-team squad in the summer, as per the report, Juventus are hoping to stimulate Los Blancos to sell the 23-year-old. And, should Asensio’s frustrations boil over, the Italian heavyweights ought to stand a chance in his pursuit.

Juventus have already confirmed one summer arrival in Aaron Ramsey. It now remains to be seen if the Welshman is joined by Marco Asensio in the list of summer arrivals, or if Real Madrid succeed in keeping hold of their prized asset.
