Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku is reportedly ready to quit Old Trafford for Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by The Sun, 2018-19 could end up being the final season for Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United. The Belgian striker is open to the idea of leaving the Premier League heavyweights, if they intend to sell him in the summer transfer window, with Juventus being his preferred destination up next.

Lukaku joined Manchester United from Everton in a big money move in the summer of 2017. The Belgian enjoyed a decent debut campaign with the Red Devils, ending the season as the club’s top scorer with 27 goals. But, the dreaded second season syndrome seems to have struck the 25-year-old.

Lukaku has struggled for consistency this term, with things going from bad to worse under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. With the Norwegian in-charge of Manchester United, the player has played second fiddle to Marcus Rashford, only starting alongside the new first-choice striker twice.

Unsurprisingly, the Belgian international’s current predicament at Old Trafford has given way to widespread speculation surrounding his future at the club. And now, The Sun have claimed that Lukaku is not averse to the idea of quitting Manchester United in favour of joining Juventus in the summer.

Juventus have previously been reported to be interested in Lukaku, who could ideally be a long-term successor for Mario Mandzukic who, at 32, is in the twilight of his career. Additionally, with Paulo Dybala being heavily linked with a move away from Turin, the Bianconeri are likely to be in the market for an attacker in the summer, as per the report.

Lukaku could thus, be a viable target for Juventus, although the report does not indicate whether they are still interested in signing him. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are also showing an interest in offering him an escape route out of Manchester United.

The player though, will only choose to call it quits at Old Trafford if United are looking to offload him, which as per recent reports could happen. But, the Red Devils will only part ways with Lukaku if they are able to recoup at least the £75 million they paid to snap him up from Everton.

It now remains to be seen how things develop in the coming months, and if Romelu Lukaku’s stint at Manchester United ends after two seasons. If he does join Juventus, he could become the second Premier League superstar to make his way to the Italian champions, with Aaron Ramsey all set to become a Juventus player in the summer.
