Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly interested in AS Monaco star Khephren Thuram and are eyeing a cut-price move for the son of Lillian Thuram.

The Daily Mail have reported that Khephren Thuram is on the radar of Premier League duo Liverpool and Chelsea. The AS Monaco youngster, who is the son of former footballer Lillian Thuram, is yet to sign a professional contract with the French club, who seem to be struggling in the league this season.

Khephren Thuram-Ulien is a product of the AS Monaco setup. The 17-year-old is considered one of the most prized assets of the academy setup at the present moment. Khephren has even made his senior breakthrough this season, featuring in two Champions League matches as AS Monaco’s struggles continue this season.

The 17-year-old is still biding his time for his Ligue 1 debut. But, there is already interest in his services, with Juventus, Liverpool and Chelsea taking note of the midfielder’s potential. A major portion of their interest is the fact that Khephren is yet to sign his first professional deal, with his current contract set to expire in the summer.

This means that the clubs can potentially sign the 17-year-old for a measly compensation fee, thus the interest in his services. The report iterates that his father is waiting to decide on what the best foot forward will be for young Khephren, especially with AS Monaco in real danger of getting relegated this season.

The focus though, should be on which team will equip Khephren with the best pathway into the first-team and regular minutes, which should be the priority.

Liverpool are well-stacked in the midfield department and are unlikely to be able to offer the 17-year-old any minutes in the near future.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, there might be room in midfield. But, the Blues are not particularly known to push youngsters through into the first-team, something that is really starting to compel their youngsters to look elsewhere, the latest example being Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Lillian Thuram now has both his sons being courted by top clubs as Marcus Thuram was reportedly on the radar of Arsenal in recent times.
