Barcelona are reportedly interested in Manchester United academy ace Joshua Bohui, who is currently a part of their Under-23 team.

The Mirror are claiming that Manchester United might have to protect another one of their academy stars from the clutches of European hotshots. Joshua Bohui is a prospect that is interesting Barcelona and AS Monaco, both of whom are keeping a close watch on the youngster.

Brought in from Brentford by Manchester United in 2016 as part of the intensive youth recruitment program undertaken by the club, Joshua Bohui is one of the highest-rated youngsters in the Under-18 team at that moment alongside Angel Gomes and fellow recruits Tahith Chong and Nishan Burkart.

Now a part of the Under-23 side, Bohui has been tipped to take his senior bow under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His numbers are decent this season, with 5 goals and 2 assists to show for his efforts in 17 games. But, it is his contractual situation that is worrying Manchester United, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

The youngster has already rejected a United offer that handed him a four-year deal, with doubts over a clear pathway into the first-team. One of the tipping points has been the fact that, despite being a part of the pre-season squad, Bohui is yet to be given a senior debut and is growing frustrated over the same, which has alerted Barcelona and AS Monaco to the possibility of snatching him away from Manchester United.

Barcelona have already done the same with Arsenal, bringing in Marcus McGuane on a free transfer, while there have been other English youngsters that have opted to swap clubs and move abroad in search of a faster track to the first-team. Jadon Sancho is reaping the benefits of it while Brahim Diaz has opted to join Real Madrid.

AS Monaco, on the other hand, have become renowned in harbouring young talent and giving them a platform to rise into prominence. Youri Tielemans, Piotr Pellegri, Benoit Badiashile and Willem Geubbels are a few AS Monaco players who are tipped to become future superstars and the club is keen on adding young gems to their squad at every opportunity.

Manchester United would ideally want to retain Joshua Bohui, who could opt to remain if provided an opportunity in the coming months under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. There has been a recent change in the mindset of English youngsters, who prefer first-team chances over money and are more realistic and ambitious at the same time.

Bohui needs to be shown United value him as a prospect and quick.
