Real Madrid have been interested in Marcus Rashford for a while now. But, according to The Sun, the Manchester United academy graduate has no intention to leave the club and will reject any advances from the Spanish giants and other interested clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

From playing for the Under-18 team to scoring the winner on debut and then backing it up with crucial goals against Arsenal and Manchester City in his debut season, Marcus Rashford has had a mercurial rise within the footballing world.

While Rashford continued to grow under Jose Mourinho, the striker was reportedly unhappy at not being given opportunities in his natural position and being played out wide on the left and right. Real Madrid have been looking to replace Karim Benzema upfront while also searching for able players to add to attack to mitigate the goals that have dried up since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Mariano Diaz was brought in more as a backup and while Harry Kane is thought to be the club’s main target, Rashford has always been on their agenda.

It even came to the point that Real Madrid’s representatives had held talks with Rashford’s camp regarding a potential move back in November, with the striker continuing to be unhappy with being played out of position. Towards the end of Mourinho’s reign though, Rashford had upped the tempo, with 2 goals and 4 assists in the last 5 games under the Portuguese.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival saw Rashford start as the striker and the academy graduate is repaying the faith being shown in him, with a tally of 2 goals and an assist in the three matches thus far. Beyond the contributions, it is the desire, the work-rate and the vigour with which Rashford is going about his duties that is catching everyone’s attention.

With the Manchester United star now being played in his natural position, Rashford is happy with his status at the club and is not seeking a move away from Old Trafford. The report iterates that even under Mourinho, while Rashford was keen to hold talks, and had never made up his mind about leaving the club.

It will be interesting to see just how much Marcus Rashford can grow in stature in the six months that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be in charge at Manchester United. But, one thing is for sure, people are starting to realise that Marcus Rashford might not just be the future of Manchester United but the present as well.

For Real Madrid and others, it is a case of moving on to other potential targets.
