Bayern Munich are poised to make a move for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey next month, but could face stiff competition from Italian champions Juventus.

According to The Sun, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are facing fresh competition in pursuit of Aaron Ramsey, in the form of Italian counterparts Juventus. The Bavarians have been alert to the player’s situation at Arsenal, since the club withdrew their initial contract offer back in September.

It is believed that Bayern could make a move to sign Ramsey on a pre-contract agreement next month in an attempt to bolster their midfield department. But, they could face stiff competition from Juventus, who are also keen to secure the Arsenal superstar’s services next season.

The 27-year-old has already attracted interest from a host of top clubs across England, but Bayern and Juventus will have the upper hand since English clubs are not eligible to sign the Arsenal midfielder on a pre-contract.

Bayern, in particular, will be boosted by the development, considering how they have struggled with the lack of midfield resources this season.

Indeed, both Thiago Alcantara and Corentin Tolisso have spent a large chunk of the season on the sidelines due to injury troubles, with the latter still out with a cruciate ligament rupture. New signing Leon Goretzka has also picked up a muscle injury, which could spell further trouble for Niko Kovac as he starts his mid-season preparations.

Therefore, the addition of Ramsey seems like a logical choice and the fact that he’s available for a free transfer would make him a bargain signing for Bayern.

And to top it off, the Arsenal superstar is also a fit for Kovac’s style of play given his proficiency in rotating possession as well as his ball-carrying quality in midfield. He can hover around the half spaces while his technical prowess allows him to link up with teammates in the final third, which is perfectly suited to Bayern’s quick-passing game under Kovac.

The Welsh International is also a tenacious midfielder, who can be utilised in the attacking third, where his excellent stamina and relentless will to press the defenders will help Bayern restrict the opposition inside their own half.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old bags a vast amount of experience in the highest level of football, having made over 350 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions. This could certainly ease up his task of settling into the Bundesliga and more importantly, play a prominent role in one of Europe’s top clubs.

That being said, Juventus have already tabled a £175,000-a-week contract offer for Ramsey, which, despite being lower than what Arsenal offered earlier in the season, is lucrative enough to lure the midfielder to Italy.

Therefore, Bayern need to come up with a better offer if they are to secure the services of the talented Welshman. But, given their strict wage structure, it could prove rather difficult for the club’s hierarchy to accommodate all three of Thomas Muller, James Rodriguez and Ramsey in the same squad, potentially making the Arsenal star an expensive target for the German champions.

It now remains to be seen if Bayern Munich can beat Juventus to Aaron Ramsey’s signature. What remains certain is that the Welshman is set to leave Arsenal on a free transfer next summer, unless they manage to part ways with him in January.
