Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly interested in English wonderkid Jadon Sancho, who has been in fine form for Borussia Dortmund this term.

According to a report by MARCA, Jadon Sancho is garnering attention from some of the biggest clubs in European football. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing the English wonderkid, and are monitoring his progress at Borussia Dortmund with the view to possibly making a move in the future.

Jadon Sancho took the brave decision to leave Manchester City for a foreign club in Borussia Dortmund, while still in his teens. The decision to snub a possible future under Pep Guardiola had evoked polarising remarks, but the player has since been vindicated.

While he only managed 12 appearances in his maiden campaign at Dortmund, this season has seen him become a pivotal figure at the Signal Iduna Park. In 24 outings across all competitions, Sancho has directly contributed to 17 goals (7 goals, 10 assists), which has naturally thrust him into the spotlight, piquing the interest of Real Madrid and Barcelona, among others.

The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has adversely affected the fortunes of Real Madrid, who have only now embarked on a road to recovery, which is evidently a slow journey. With Karim Benzema the only player who has shown any semblance of consistency in the final third, Los Blancos are in an urgent need to bolster their attack, particularly the wide areas.

Sancho is thus, a viable target for Real Madrid, who also have fierce rivals Barcelona for company in pursuit of the 18-year-old.

The Blaugrana have recently poached Borussia Dortmund by signing Ousmane Dembele, although the move hasn’t been a resounding success. But, with Malcom being heavily linked with a shock move away from Camp Nou, just six months after joining Barcelona, the La Liga champions could be forced into the market for a winger, with a Dortmund superstar being their target yet again.

Bayern Munich are another big name club who are showing interest in Sancho, with Die Roten having a notorious history of largely poaching talents from within Bundesliga. But, the German champions, in addition to Real Madrid and Barcelona, are merely monitoring the progress of the teenage prodigy, with the report mentioning nothing about future bids.

Should the three clubs indeed make a move for Sancho soon, Dortmund might still fancy their chances of keeping him, considering the 18-year-old has historically favoured regular first-team minutes over simply being a part of “the biggest club in Europe”.

For now, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich seem to be running the rule over Jadon Sancho. It now remains to be seen if either club makes a move soon enough and if so, they can land their target man.
