Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offload creative supremo Mesut Ozil for £25 million in the January transfer window, amid interest from Inter Milan.

According to a report by The Sun, Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of selling Mesut Ozil for a bargain £25 million in the January transfer window, with Unai Emery getting increasingly frustrated with him. The Germany creative supremo is the subject of interest from Inter Milan.

Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, in a then club record £42.5 million deal. Over the last five years though, the player has been a polarizing figure, not just among the club’s fanbase, but pundits and neutrals alike.

But, Ozil has still been a key figure for the Gunners during his half-decade stint at the Emirates, although his stay at the club could be about to come to an end. Manager Unai Emery is growing frustrated with the player’s inconsistent performances as well as his poor fitness, which could see the club put him on the market soon enough.

The report suggests that Arsenal are considering selling Ozil in order to write his £350,000-a-week wages off their books. And, considering his staggering salary could put a dent in their prospects of offloading the player, the North Londoners are willing to demand just £25 million in exchange for his services, using the proceeds from the sale to fund a move for Mario Hermoso.

Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Ozil in the January transfer window, with the player’s agent set to fly to Italy this week to try and broker a deal with the Nerazzurri. And, Luciano Spalletti could do with someone like the former German international in his squad.

Inter do not have a player who is capable of pulling the strings from a central position, and with Spalletti favouring a 4-2-3-1 formation for the most part, the Arsenal superstar could potentially become the creative supremo at San Siro.

Ozil’s representatives are also scouring the possibility of negotiating a deal with Juventus, but a January deal with the Bianconeri is unlikely. Inter are thus, the most viable possibility for the 30-year-old, who could find a second wind in his career upon moving away from Arsenal.

A January departure from the Emirates could be a possibility for Ozil. And, with less than a month left for the transfer window to reopen, the German playmaker has little time left to make an impression on Emery, if he indeed is willing to offload him.

Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal future has been thrown into disarray, with a £25 million January move a possibility. It now remains to be seen if the 30-year-old ends up joining Inter Milan in the winter, or if he stays put at the Premier League club.
