Callum Hudson-Odoi is reportedly on the radar of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, who want to the Chelsea wonderkid in a permanent deal

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Callum Hudson-Odoi is the subject of interest from Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich. The teenage wonderkid is frustrated over the lack of first-team minutes he is receiving at Chelsea, who are only willing to part ways with him as part of a loan deal.

Hudson-Odoi has been a part of Chelsea for over a decade now, having made his way to the club in 2007. During this period, the player has made quite an impression at every age level side that he has played for, progressing to the under-23 side as a 16-year-old. But, it was last season when he finally achieved his dream of playing for the first-team, making his debut in January against Newcastle United.

Having made giant strides in the pre-season leading up to the current campaign, it was believed that the teenager would be handed a bigger role under Maurizio Sarri. Thus far though, Hudson-Odoi has only managed 95 minutes of first-team football. With the lack of opportunities leaving him frustrated, Bayern Munich could offer him a way out.

The Bavarian giants have been in the market for wide players for quite some time now. Old workhorses Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are in the twilight of their careers at 35 and 36, respectively. Beyond the veteran duo, Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac has Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry as the only natural wingers at his disposal within the first-team squad.

While both Robben and Ribery have shown that they are still going strong, there will come a time when Bayern Munich will have to replace them. To that end, Chelsea wonderkid Hudson-Odoi is a viable target who could follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, who has been a resounding success since leaving the comforts of English football.

In addition to the Borussia Dortmund prodigy, the likes of Reece Oxford, Ademola Lookman and Reiss Nelson have also enjoyed varying levels of success in Bundesliga. A move to Bayern Munich could thus, be an appealing prospect for the 17-year-old. But, Chelsea are unwilling to sell the English wonderkid.

Instead, they are open to letting Hudson-Odoi leave on a loan deal to continue his progress. Bayern Munich though, are hoping to land him in a permanent deal. In the end, the player’s desire will decide the outcome, and frustrations over the lack of first-team minutes could boil over.

Bayern Munich do look like they could do with an injection of youth in their squad. It remains to be seen if it comes in the form of Callum Hudson-Odoi, or if the teenage prodigy ends up remaining at Chelsea.
