Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid have reportedly decided to call an end to their pursuit of Argentine international Paulo Dybala.

As per a report from Italian publication Calciomercato, reigning European champions Real Madrid have made a decision to cede their interest in Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the finest attacking players across Europe since joining Juventus from Palermo back in the summer of 2015. Dybala has racked up 155 appearances for the Bianconeri and has won the Serie A title in all of his three seasons in Turin.

In the ongoing campaign, the Argentine international has found the back of the net on six occasions and set up one more in 15 matches across all competitions.

Real Madrid were intent on bringing in a new forward in the summer transfer window, following the shock departure of star man Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. And Dybala was among the many options that club president Florentino Perez was considering making the next Galactico.

While no move materialised back then, Los Blancos were still believed to be holding an interest in signing the Argentine, as the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and co. have been failing to deliver on a consistent basis in the 2018-19 season.

Dybala too, was understood to be keen on securing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, but the 13-time European champions have now decided to pull the plug on their interest in the attacker.

The primary reason behind this move by the Merengues, according to the aforementioned report, is that they are reluctant to shell out a huge sum of money on the former Palermo wonderkid at a time when they are planning a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar as well.

The Brazilian superstar is believed to be nearing an exit from the French capital club and expected to cost somewhere in the region of €200 million. Juventus, on the other hand, are likely to demand a figure upwards of the €100 million mark for Dybala, given that he still has four years left on his current contract with the club.

Real Madrid, though, are unwilling to sanction such a significant transfer outlay in the summer transfer window and as a result, have conceded defeat in their pursuit of Dybala, instead deciding to pursue alternate targets.

The reigning European champions are eyeing a cut-price deal for Chelsea wing-wizard Eden Hazard, who could be available for just €60 million in the summer, as he enters the final year of his contract with the Premier League heavyweights.

There is no doubt over the fact that Real Madrid are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, if they are to get things back on track moving forward. It remains to be seen who Florentino Perez decides to bring in to fill in the vacancy left by Ronaldo’s departure, but it seems like Dybala might not be getting his dream move to Spain anytime soon.
