Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a shock €60 million bid to sign world-class Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard in next summer’s transfer window.

If a report by Spanish outlet Don Balon is to be believed, Real Madrid are back in the hunt for Eden Hazard, who is being eyed by club president Florentino Perez as a long-awaited Galactico signing. Los Blancos are thus, lining up a bid worth €60 million to secure the services of the Chelsea superstar.

The start to the 2018-19 season has been an extremely disastrous one for Real Madrid. Julen Lopetegui, named as the successor to Zinedine Zidane and tasked with continuing the winning momentum, failed to galvanize the Spanish giants, and was given the boot just a few months into being appointed at the helm.

His replacement, Santiago Solari had begun his interim charge well. But, the sinking feeling returned even quickly in his first game as the full-time boss this past weekend. While Real Madrid still remain in the hunt for all three titles, there is an increasing feeling that the season is headed nowhere.

Chelsea, on the other hand, also had a new manager taking over this past summer. But, the Blues have taken to Maurizio Sarri’s well extremely well. A big part of their early season success can be attributed to Eden Hazard, who has a solid return of 8 goals and 4 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.

But, the Belgian superstar very nearly wasn’t a part of Sarri’s first-team setup, with Real Madrid being hot in his pursuit this past summer. But, while he did stay put at Chelsea in the end and started the campaign strongly, his future at Stamford Bridge is still mired in uncertainty.

That is largely due to the fact that Hazard’s current deal at Chelsea has less than two years left to run out. The 27-year-old has not ruled out renewing terms with the Blues, but negotiations have proceeded slowly.

Add to it, the fact that the player alluded towards his desire to play for Real Madrid recently, just like this past summer, and it is clear that Chelsea cannot rest easy. And, Florentino Perez is ready to take advantage of the situation that Hazard finds himself in, with a bid for next summer being plotted.

The Real Madrid president recognises that Hazard’s contract with Chelsea will be in its final year next summer, which is why he is planning on tabling a €60 million bid for him. The aforementioned figure is miles away from the reported valuation that Chelsea have slapped on their prized asset.

But, the fact that Hazard will have less than 12 months remaining on his deal with Chelsea next summer makes the €60 million price quite appealing, especially if the two parties are unable to reach an agreement over a new deal.

In the end, the appropriate valuation largely depends on whether Chelsea are able to tie Hazard down to a new deal at Stamford Bridge. If they do, they will not just have a good chance of commanding a higher fee, but also keep him at the club. If not, the world-class superstar could well be on his way to Real Madrid.

What is certain though, is the fact that a player of Hazard’s calibre would go a long way reinvigorating the stuttering giants of Spanish football Real Madrid, where the current superstars are failing to deliver.
