Alexis Sanchez is reportedly willing to end his stint at Manchester United after just one year, and is keen on joining European giants PSG

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Alexis Sanchez wants to call it quits at Manchester United once the transfer window opens in January. The Chilean international has his heart set on joining European giants PSG, who were interested in him before he departed from Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez joined Manchester United from Arsenal earlier this year amid much fanfare. But, bar a few notable performances, the player has failed to deliver. His struggles have compounded so much that the 29-year-old has lost his place as a regular in the first-team setup at Old Trafford.

His lack of progress at Old Trafford has not only given way to frustration among the Manchester United fanbase but also the player himself. Recent reports have suggested that Sanchez is getting increasingly discontent over his situation at the club. And, he is now open to an exit from Old Trafford, with PSG his preferred destination.

Les Parisiens had been interested in signing Sanchez when he was in the middle of a contract standoff with Arsenal last year. But, PSG’s bid to secure the Chilean international’s services were scuppered by Manchester United.

Now though, with Sanchez eyeing a possible January move to Parc des Princes, it is unclear whether a transfer would be possible to the European giants. PSG are currently well stocked in the attacking department, with the trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani going gung-ho, especially in Ligue 1.

Should Sanchez end up joining, it is highly likely that he might have to end up playing second fiddle to one of the aforementioned superstars like Angel Di Maria has to, or share game time at the very least, which is exactly his predicament at Manchester United right now.

But, PSG are not the only club that Sanchez’s representatives are sounding out, with the player also open to moving to Spain or Italy. But, the European giants are one of very few clubs that will be able to match the astronomical wages he is earning at Manchester United while also paying a transfer fee.

Manchester United though, are “willing to cut their losses” and could be prepared to part ways with the former Arsenal superstar, although they are still hoping Sanchez can turn his career around at Old Trafford.

It is still early days as far as this latest transfer saga is concerned. One thing is certain though, a move that was famously seen as a coup for Manchester United is threatening to go caput, with Alexis Sanchez open to joining European heavyweights PSG.
