Real Madrid are reportedly considering to strengthen their forward line in the winter transfer window, with AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone emerging as an option.

Spanish publication Don Balon are speculating that Real Madrid are not satisfied with the addition of Mariano Diaz to their roster. Julen Lopetegui wants another forward in the winter transfer window and has his eyes set on AC Milan’s latest hotshot Patrick Cutrone.

Patrick Cutrone has an interesting story. The player’s name did not come up much as a potential wonderkid before he was thrust into the AC Milan first-team in the time of need during the 2016-17 season. The 20-year-old now has a record of 19 goals and 6 assists in 2700 minutes of first-team football for AC Milan.

Cutrone has started the 2018-19 campaign brightly, despite playing just 14 minutes of Serie A football. The player came on to be the difference against AS Roma, which would surely serve him better in the plans of Gennaro Gattuso.

Real Madrid seem to be pondering a January approach for the Italian international.

Real Madrid have an obvious need to compensate for Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals. Now that he is not a part of the team anymore, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are expected to step up. Both of them have, to an extent. But, the point of concern is that, while Bale has been consistent, this might just be a sprint of good form from the French striker, who has not prolific for a couple of seasons now.

There is no real second option to Karim Benzema. Mariano Diaz has been brought in. But, he will likely be a rotation player and plug the holes in attack whenever there is a need. Real need an out-and-out striker who can act as a second-fiddle to Benzema, learn and be ready in time to replace the Frenchman when the time comes.

Harry Kane has been touted as the name Real Madrid are after, especially with Florentino Perez’s penchant for ‘Galactico‘ signings. Patrick Cutrone though, might just be the perfect option, with Barcelona entering the race for the Tottenham superstar.

For one, Cutrone fits the profile of players Real Madrid have been bringing in recently. That the AC Milan striker will cost heavens less than Harry Kane will also be a bonus. The youngster has already shown that he has the pedigree to succeed and make a difference, even when coming off the bench.

Cutrone can also be privy to change and adapt to Julen Lopetegui’s playing style better than the likes of Harry Kane and Edinson Cavani, who are likely to be more set in their ways by now.

The Real Madrid manager knows the player from his own time at FC Porto, where he had enquired about the possibility of signing the AC Milan striker when he was just 15.

Cutrone though, can prove to be a roadblock himself. AC Milan is Cutrone’s ‘dream club’. AC Milan too, look at Cutrone as a player they can build their squad around.

Although, AC Milan are in some financial trouble and should Real Madrid come in with a whopping offer, it might just be too good to refuse. Cutrone deserves the attention he is getting. And, if Real Madrid have their way, we might be seeing him don the legendary Los Blancos jersey come January.
